Verstappen News
Lewis Hamilton has issued a warning to McLaren F1 drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris as the title race heats up with Max Verstappen cutting into their lead.
Hamilton called Verstappen “cut-throat” and said that unless the McLaren F1 pair respond with the same intensity, the Red Bull star could snatch the championship away.
Piastri leads the standings by 14 points from Norris, with Verstappen just 40 points off the top. That margin has been shrinking after Verstappen’s three wins and a second place in the past four races.
“With Max you have to be absolutely ruthless,” Hamilton said. “He knows how to attack when he’s chasing. The McLaren F1 guys need to stay focused because Max won’t give them any breathing space.”

Why McLaren F1 Faces Extra Pressure
Hamilton believes Verstappen has the “easiest job” because he’s the hunter, not the defender. That means the pressure is heavier on McLaren F1, who risk throwing away their advantage if they lose consistency.

McLaren F1’s Level Playing Field
The team confirmed both drivers are free to race without restrictions, other than avoiding collisions. Norris had previously faced warnings after contact with Piastri in Singapore, but those internal threats have now been lifted.
Piastri admitted Verstappen’s surge surprised him:
“The run of form he’s had since Monza was quicker than I expected. But I can’t waste energy worrying about that. My job is to get the best out of myself and the McLaren F1 car.”
What Norris Thinks
Norris praised Verstappen’s form but still believes the McLaren F1 package gives them the edge heading into the final five races:
“They’ve been quicker at times, no doubt. But we’ve got a better car now. We just have to use it properly.”
Verstappen’s Mindset
The Dutchman isn’t backing off:
“We need to be perfect to the end to have a chance. I’m enjoying this run, and I’ll try to carry that momentum.”
That relentless attitude is exactly what worries Hamilton. If McLaren F1 let their guard down, Verstappen will pounce.

Hamilton’s Final Word
Hamilton summed it up bluntly:
“Consistency is what wins titles. Verstappen has it right now. If McLaren F1 doesn’t match that, they’ll lose this fight.”
